Thermos | Making Airplaine Dinners a Thing of the Past?

As I poured the last cup of coffee out of my shiny new Thermos container almost 9 hours after it’s initial brewing, I marveled at the still hot temperature of my beverage.  The brilliance of this spectacular item would be so useful for me, I thought.  On a mission to save money, I began making coffee at home in the morning and bringing it to work with me.  Now my delicious Cafe Grumpy coffee stays good all day, nothing going to waste because it cooled down.  As I use a Chemex brewing system at the house, my coffee often starts cooler than a regular brewing system, and because the carafe does not sit on a hotplate the liquid inside cools quite quickly.  So now when I make coffee I transfer all leftovers to the thermos, keeping it warm and delicious all day.

The genius of this Thermos container on an ordinary day is obvious.  However, as a traveler my mind instantly drifted to the product’s usefulness on the road…or in a plane for that matter.  That’s right, I’ve decided that airplane dinners shall be a thing of the past for me.  On my next extended flight I intend to bring my dinner with me, in the Thermos food container.  Then I’ll have a delicious, still hot, meal while trying to ignore the jealous stares of other passengers wishing their food was as good as mine.  Though the possibilities are endless, for my first run I’m thinking mashed potatoes with pot roast, so the potato soaks up the gravy (making it non-liquid).  Yum.  I’ll let you know how it works out…and if they let me on the plane with it.
