Photo | Pane Con Milza (Spleen Sandwich)

Palermo, Sicily

Pane con milza (spleen sandwich) is a Sicilian specialty, and one of the featured dishes at the famous Antica Focacceria San Francisco. Served with just the cooked meat on bread and a light sprinkle of fresh Parmesan cheese, the simple sandwich is not so bad.  I couldn’t eat them all day as my cousin Fabio can, but I can’t say I disliked it either.
