Grillin’ Sicilian Style

Sicily 2007 687That’s right, those 2 x 4s with nails sticking out of them, those are going to be used for burning down to embers and cooking over – a common practice here in Partanna.  This particular setup makes grilling in this manner very easy to do, but I’ve seen my cousin have a fire going on one side of him, and as the wood burns down the embers are transferred to the grill on his other side.

First thing needed to start the perfect Sicilian BBQ session is a huge pile of bacon…a huge pile of sausage…no vegetables…and lots of Beer.

Get a large group of family or friends together, and don’t forget the children!  A real Sicilian BBQ requires at least 2 children under the age of 8 staying up until all hours of the night with you.

Grilled bacon is damn amazing…but bacon grilled over a wood fire is the best…a Sicilian flavor I will always savor.  Much of the time invested into family and friends here revolves around sharing food.  So eat up, drink up, and enjoy!

Spread the love…share the bacon.
