Inn on the Hudson | Peekskill, NY

Inn on the Hudson - Peekskill NY (4) It may not be fancy…but the Inn on the Hudson boasts rooms which are clean and comfortable, and a location that’s close to hiking at Bear Mountain or Harriman State Park…and there’s a decent view too!

Just outside of the deceivingly quaint downtown area of Peekskill, this small hotel’s location is quite peaceful; you almost can’t even tell that you’re sitting right above the highway while looking over the Hudson to the mountains beyond.

All of the rooms here open up to the outdoors, which is a feature I love.  The rooms on the front side of the building have a balcony area which looks over the Hudson, while the rooms on the back side open to the parking lot.  These parking lot rooms, however, do have large windows which graciously receive that same view over the Hudson from inside.

Inn on the Hudson - Peekskill NY (13) There is a restaurant here, which closes whenever they get slow – so if you do intend to eat in, make sure to call the desk to be sure you can eat later than 7:00 pm.  Food here is simple in taste.  It’s not the best or most interesting meal you’ll ever have; but it will be cooked properly, decently flavored, and not overly greasy or salted.  The restaurant’s outdoor seating area also provides a view over the Hudson, and the pool – which is a great way for parents to relax with a glass of wine, or cup of coffee, while watching their kids swim.

My only complaint, based on their location, is the lack of information available in the lobby regarding Bear Mountain Park – though I supposed they expect the park’s information desk to have whatever material you may need.
