Video | Harvest Dance of Isla de Taquile

Isla de Taquile, Lago Titikaka – Peru

The harvest dance of Taquile Island (on Lake Titikaka) is representative of the motions of the planting season.  The men use their handmade tools to prep the ground for the planting of the seed, while the women follow behind dropping the seeds in the ground.  This dance repeats those motions in a melodic way.

  1. Thanks for sharing this video–I love it! Lake Titicaca is really a magical place, hope the altitude isn’t affecting you too much! -Laura

Thanks Laura! The islands here are so interesting! I’m in love with the floating islands of the Uros! So cool! Actually, everything about Peru is cool! I’m doing fine with the altitude..I expected it to affect me worse, but it seems that Damany (my bf) has gotten the worst of that. There will be plenty more posts when I return home, for sure.
